Jammu witnessed the inauguration of the National Foundation for Journalism & Media’s (NFJM) first Press and Media Centre on September 24, led by prominent journalist S.Harjeet Singh.
The ceremony took place at F-1/8C, Trikuta Shopping Complex, B.C. Road and attracted a diverse audience, including local media professionals and prominent community members.
Dr. Tahir Rufayee, Chairman of NFJM, officially opened the Centre. In his address, he highlighted the organization’s commitment to the principles of ethical journalism, declaring, “This Press & Media Centre will serve as a hub for fair reporting, informed public engagement, and responsible journalism.”
Dr. Rufayee further emphasized that the Centre’s mission aligns with strengthening democratic values through truthful reporting and ethical media practices.

This initiative aims to cultivate a professional environment where journalists and media practitioners collaborate for transparent, accountable, and ethical reporting. Established by S.Harjeet Singh, the centre is poised to mark a significant step in Jammu’s media landscape.
Singh expressed optimism about the Centre’s potential impact, stating, “We are committed to creating a space that not only empowers journalists but also serves the community by fostering informed discourse.”
