Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Meet for AAG Girls Kicks Off

The Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Competition for All Age Group (AAG) Girls commenced today at the University of Jammu. Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, this event aims to foster sporting talent among young girls.

Over 300 girl athletes from diverse government and private schools participated, displaying exceptional skill and enthusiasm in various track and field events. The competition serves as a platform for these athletes to showcase their strength, agility, and sporting spirit.

As the competition unfolded, various categories saw fierce competition. In the discus throw events, Sweety Devi from Zone Marh clinched the gold in the U-19 category, while Konika Chib from Zone RS Pura secured silver and Renu from Zone Bishnah took home bronze.

The U-17 discus throw saw Nidhi Verma from Zone Satwari earn a gold medal, with Kiran Kumari from Zone Bhalwal and Nirjala from Zone Bishnah winning silver and bronze, respectively. In the U-14 category, Subhana from Zone Satwari emerged victorious, followed closely by Sonakshi and Mansi.

In the 100m races, Damanpreet from Zone Bishnah raced to gold in the U-14 events. The U-17 title went to Nishta Sharma from Zone Jammu, while Shivani from the same zone secured gold in the U-19 division.

The competition included a well-contested 400m race, where Sahiba Choudhary from Zone Dansal won the U-14 category and Nishta Sharma again dominated the U-17 section.

In the 300m races, Mehak clinched gold for Zone Jammu in the U-19 category, while Sonia Choudhary from Zone Dansal excelled in the U-17 division.

The high jump events showcased the talents of Shriya Bhagat, Rohika Devi, and Payal Kumari, each of whom earned gold medals in their respective age groups, contributing to Zone Chowki Choura’s impressive performance.

The event witnessed notable support from DYSSO Jammu and a team of dedicated technical officials, including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, and Harsimran Singh. They awarded medals to the top performers and commended all participants.

Officials encouraged athletes to embody the values of dedication, discipline, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. As the event progresses, the University of Jammu serves as a vibrant hub for showcasing young talent and promoting athletics among girls in the region.
