On Saturday, the Punjab Police announced the extradition of Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, a notorious terrorist from Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This operation, hailed as a significant victory against terrorism, highlights the growing collaboration between Indian authorities and their counterparts abroad.
Pindi has been a key figure related to several violent crimes, specifically in Batala, Gurdaspur. His criminal activities include petrol bomb attacks, extortion, and violent assaults. Law enforcement agencies consider him a close associate of foreign-based terrorists like Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, and Happy Passia.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that Pindi’s extradition resulted from the efficient execution of a red corner notice (RCN) issued by the Batala police. Yadav emphasized the coordinated efforts his department made with central agencies, which led to the successful capture of Pindi. He declared, “After completing all legal formalities, our dedicated team successfully brought the accused back to face justice.”
On September 24, a specialized team of four police officials flew to the UAE, with a senior officer leading the operation. This collaborative effort involved liaising with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities, showcasing the commitment of Indian law enforcement to tackle terrorism. Their swift action underlined the importance of international partnerships in confronting transnational crime.
