Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team produced a stunning all-round display, led by a sensational bowling performance from Auqib Nabi, to crush Rajasthan by an innings and a massive margin in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here today.
Resuming their second innings at a precarious 41 for 5, Rajasthan’s faint hopes of resistance were extinguished by Nabi’s relentless pace and precision. Exploiting the lively morning conditions, the right-arm pacer delivered a devastating spell of 7 wickets for just 24 runs in 11 overs, showcasing masterful control over seam and swing. His probing line and disciplined approach left the Rajasthan batters utterly clueless.
Yudhvir Singh provided strong support from the other end, claiming 2 wickets for 33 runs in 8.5 overs, as the duo combined to orchestrate Rajasthan’s dramatic collapse for a paltry 89 runs in their second innings.
Despite brief resistance from Deepak Hooda (28) and Deepak Chahar (26), the rest of the batting line-up failed to withstand the relentless pressure applied by the J&K bowlers.
Auqib Nabi’s all-round heroics earned him the Player of the Match award, capping a remarkable performance that underscored Jammu and Kashmir’s rising prowess in domestic cricket.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Brig Anil Gupta, Member (Administration) JKCA, were present at the venue. Congratulating the team, they hailed the win as a “landmark achievement” for J&K cricket.
This emphatic victory will be remembered as a defining moment in the state’s cricketing journey — one that reaffirms their growing strength and determination on the national stage.
