BJP Honors Sher-e-Duggar Pt. Prem Nath Dogra’s Legacy

On the birth anniversary of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, revered as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized tributes across Jammu and Kashmir on October 8. The event emphasized Dogra’s significant role in India’s political landscape, particularly in advocating for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Srinagar, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh led the commemoration. Alongside senior party leaders, he garlanded Pt. Dogra’s portrait at the party office. Among the attendees were Sat Sharma, President of J&K BJP; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); and other prominent members who paid floral tributes.

Chugh hailed Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He remarked, “His unwavering struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ became the moral compass of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to inspire the BJP today.”

Notably, Tarun Chugh emphasized that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government fulfilled Pt. Dogra’s dreams for the state. He declared it an ultimate tribute to Dogra’s lifelong commitment to national unity.

Sat Sharma reflected on Dogra’s vision, highlighting his pivotal role in the Praja Parishad Movement. Sharma stated, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Ashok Koul conveyed how Dogra exemplified moral integrity, leading the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement with determination. This effort ultimately abolished the separate post of Prime Minister in Jammu and Kashmir.

In Jammu, BJP leaders participated in a Hawan ceremony at Dogra Chowk, where they expressed their respects. Among them was MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, who hailed Pt. Dogra as “a towering statesman and patriot who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.”

Sanjita Dogra, also present, called on party workers to emulate Pt. Dogra’s selfless spirit. Furthermore, Baldev Singh Billawaria pointed out that Dogra’s ideology laid the groundwork for Jammu and Kashmir’s unity with the Indian Union.

Through these tributes, BJP leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Pt. Dogra’s legacy while reiterating the importance of national integration as the pathway to progress and unity.
