“It is gladdening to see how 11 years of Make in India has contributed to furthering economic strength and laying the foundation for Aatmanirbharta,” Modi stated in a post on social media platform X.
PM Modi reflected on the launch of the initiative 11 years ago, which aimed to invigorate India’s economic landscape and harness the country’s entrepreneurial spirit. He highlighted, “Make in India has given an impetus to India’s entrepreneurs, thus creating a global impact.”
During the address, PM Modi urged stakeholders to enhance indigenous production across various sectors. He reiterated the government’s commitment, stating that India must focus heavily on becoming a ‘Swadeshi’ economy in the coming years.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, Modi announced the removal of numerous compliance burdens that hindered business operations. “The government is putting a strong emphasis on Make in India manufacturing. We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India,” he asserted, emphasizing the focus on the ease of doing business.
Modi elaborated on the government’s proactive initiatives, mentioning that they have abolished over 40,000 compliances and decriminalized more than a thousand laws to support business growth. “We are standing with you shoulder-to-shoulder,” he told the attendees, which included members of the business community and traders.
As the nation marks 11 successful years of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal acknowledged the strides made in indigenous defence production. He noted, “The world is a witness to India’s defence manufacturing strength today!” Goyal attributed this success to the visionary leadership of PM Modi under the initiative.
Furthermore, on this significant day, India successfully tested the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile, capable of striking targets within a 2,000 km radius. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the agencies involved in this achievement, underscoring the advantages of the Make in India initiative on national defence capabilities.
The continued support for home-grown production signifies the government’s larger vision to enhance local manufacturing and establish India as a formidable economic player on the global stage.
