In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached property valued at ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
Implementing Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, the Police Station Nowhatta executed the attachment linked to FIR No. 61/2019, which cites violations under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. This measure represents a significant step in local law enforcement’s efforts to dismantle drug networks.
The confiscated assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a single-storey kitchen block with three washrooms, and a land parcel measuring 09 marlas. Investigations revealed that this property was acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, underscoring how drug-related crimes infiltrate local economies.
Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, the beneficiary of this property, is a resident of Kani Dewar in Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, Srinagar. Authorities stress that the property has been identified as illegally acquired under the provisions of the NDPS Act after due legal processes were followed.
This action emphasizes the Srinagar Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating narcotics and dismantling the financial underpinnings of drug networks. Police spokespersons reiterated their resolve to intensify operations against drug peddlers, underscoring the importance of community involvement.
“We urge the public to share any information regarding drug abuse or trafficking. Together, we can combat this menace and create a safer, healthier society,” they stated.
