BJP-RSS ideology is to divide the country, spreading anger and hate; PDP-BJP coalition govt failed to provide Pani, Bijli and Sarak

Congress holds massive protest in support of SC/ST communities in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, APRIL 07: – Congress Party staged a protest at district headquarter here in Kishtwar against the failure of BJP led government in preventing to dilute the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act through a Supreme Court order.

Led by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, a large number of Congress workers gathered at Dak Bungalow Kishtwar and marched towards the old DC office Kishtwar. They were shouting slogans against the centre and state government, denouncing the move to dilute the Act, enacted to protect the interest of the SC, ST people.

Addressing party workers there, Saroori said the Congress has always stood firmly in support of issues that concern the depressed classes. He said that the SC/ST Act was passed under the prime ministership of Rajiv Gandhi to protect the SC and ST community from atrocities and presently party chief Rahul Gandhi is raising his voice on these issues.

“Dalits, SCs, Gujjars, nomad communities are facing distress and many families stand devastated because of the atrocities committed on them,” he said and added that government not committed to ensuring the welfare of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the underprivileged sections of the society. He said that Congress party have already asked the Centre to either bring an amendment to the said law or file a curative petition before the Supreme Court but till date no concrete steps have been made by the government. On the one side BJP-RSS ideology of dividing the country, spreading anger and hate, other side ideology of brotherhood, love and peace by Congress party. RSS and BJP’s thinking is different from Congress.

Saroori also said that PDP-BJP coalition government has totally failed to address the problems of the people of the state including Pani, Bijli and Sarak. “Since they (BJP-PDP) joined hands, the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifolds. While the BJP cheated people of Jammu, the people of Kashmir were cheated by the PDP,” Saroori said. He said that all the promises made to the people prior to the Assembly elections of 2014 remained unfulfilled. “More than three and half years have passed but they have failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the rural residents, 7th pay commission, be it the problems faced by the farmers, be it the problems of Kashmiri people, be it issue of providing basic essential things.

The slogans of ‘Change’ and ‘Ache-Din’ of PDP and BJP have proven a hoax as they have failed on all fronts. The inherent contradiction within the alliance has brought the state to chaos and confusion. The two parties have been attempting to polarise situation in the state to hide their failures on governance front,” Saroori said.

Among others Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Haji Ghulam Mohd Kohli, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Chowdhary Farooq Ahmed, Chowdhary Ishaq, Asgar Hussain Khangi, Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo, Waseem Maker, Waseem Sajjad Saroori, have also addressed the protestors. They said in the wake of the Supreme Court order diluting the provisions of the SC/ST Act, the Narendra Modi government showed none of the sense of urgency which was on display during the triple talaq issue”, the Congress leaders alleged.

Sanctioned in 2013, tourism projects for Kishtwar-Sinthan yet to take off

#Kishtwar || Sanctioned way back in 2013-14, a number of all important tourism projects to build infrastructure from Kishtwar to Sinthan is yet to see the day light, even as the PDP-BJP coalition government has made announcement more than once in this regard.

The official sources in the Tourism Department informed that Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in the year 2013-14 had sanctioned Rs 7.37 crore tourism projects for the development of tourism infrastructure on Kishtwar- Sinthan Top circuit, but nothing has been done by the successive state government even after 5 years.

Even during the last Budget Session, the Minister of State for Tourism, Priya Sethi on the floor of house had informed that Rs 5.89 crore have been released in the first instance for taking up various components envisaged in the tourism project at Sinthan Top, Dedpath and Mughal Maidan.

While the minister had attributed the delay in works on some components due to litigation and non-issuance of forest clearance, maintaining that the government was vigorously pursuing the court case to get the stay vacated, and that the tenders have been floated for Mughal Maidan after getting forest clearance, with commencement of work to follow soon, the sources in the department said that it is due to the lack of liaison among the Tourism and Forest departments that this very important tourism project is delayed by years.

It may be mentioned here that the project includes the construction of food joints, shelter points, toilet blocks and car parking at Sinthan Top and Ghat, restaurant, prefabricated huts, pathways, water channels, timber jetty, toilet blocks and parking at Dedpath.

The Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Farooq Shah was not available for comments, when contacted by this scribe.

Meanwhile, official sources informed The News Now that the new Tourism Minister, Tassaduq Mufti is trying his level best to start the projects at the earliest, which so far are having existence only in the files.

The demand for completion of this project was also raised by Congress MLA from Inderwal, GM Saroori.

“The government has only assured, but nothing has been done on the ground, while it is an all important tourism destination, which connects Kashmir valley with erstwhile Doda district and especially Kishtwar,” he had said.

During summer season, a large number of tourists visit Kishtwar and they prefer to explore these destinations, Saroori had said, thus underlining the significance of these projects.

Doda March 19 : In late 90’s supreme court has banned the feeling of green trees in forest areas but forest mafia is looting the nations treasure with active support of protectors of forests ie Forest Department Officails in Bhaderwah this ill practice is going on unnoticed

The forest cover in Gathi-Gurraka Forest block falling in Kellar Range of Neeru forest division Bhaderwah is dwindling showing to ineffective regulatory control by Forest Department.

An alleged nexus between timber smugglers and tainted forest officials has led to felling of trees at an alarming rate in Kellar Range . The areas falling under compartment number 12,13 and 14 once used to be thick with pine and deodar stretched down to the Valley but it has been wiped out now. The half burnt tree trunks and rotten logs are the only traces left.

Locals accuse Forest Department of being in league with the smugglers and said that they aid and abet smugglers by not keeping a round-the -clock vigil on smugglers thereby letting them a free spree.

Forest officials hardly visit this area and why would they visit? They get their share of money. They are making huge money out of this”,Amin Ahmed , a local said and demanded action against the erring officials.

“We submit written complaint in DFO Bhaderwah and C.F. Doda office regarding the on going mass destruction of green Forest but they ignore our complaints and after that we approach to media for the sake of protection of green cover the precious wealth of our nation “Amin further said while showing the damage of green Forest.

As per United Nation Report on trees per head in various countries showing as lowest as 28 trees per head in our country which is lowest in the world pleaded for massive plantation programs and awareness campaign every nook and corner of the country b losing the green more cover we have reached a point of no return which has create an emergency like situation, which result into environmental catastrophy/disaster anytime.

According to the environmentalists, the issue is not only about the felling of Green Cedar,Fir and Pine Trees,it is about the whole eco system which is in danger. Cutting of green Cedar and Pine Trees is going on at an alarming pace without any check. The higher authorities of Government, Forest Deptt and administration were time to time informed by the Media and social activists but all seems to be gone to the deaf ears which clearly indicate that they are also getting the booty from Mafia and Corrupt Forest officials.
