On Monday, the Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area. This state-of-the-art facility marks a pivotal development in bolstering sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir’s border regions.
Sharma highlighted the government’s commitment to provide modern and accessible sports facilities to the youth of the Union Territory. He emphasized the importance of focusing on rural and border areas to cultivate a vibrant sports culture, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among young people.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” stated Sharma during the inauguration.
The newly opened multipurpose indoor sports hall is designed to accommodate various sports simultaneously. It features three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, as well as two wrestling and kabaddi courts. This comprehensive setup offers a well-rounded training environment for aspiring athletes.
In addition to the inauguration, Sharma engaged directly with local youth and sportspersons. He encouraged them to take full advantage of the new facility. The Minister reassured that the government will continue to prioritize the development of sports infrastructure, youth engagement, and talent promotion throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
This inauguration promises to significantly enhance sporting activities in the Khour area and nearby regions, allowing young athletes to access modern, world-class facilities close to their homes. As the region gears up for increased participation in sports, this initiative aims to unearth potential talent that can thrive in a well-supported environment.
