Bus stand shopkeepers protest against JDA, observe bandh – Jammu Voice News

Jammu : The entire market at General Bus Stand Jammu today remained closed as shopkeepers held a strong protest demonstration against yestreday’s anti-encroachment drive of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) during which the tin sheds and other encroachments were removed.

The shopkeepers, yesterday also, had protested against the JDA’s drive maintaining that no prior notice was served to them before launching the drive.

The shopkeepers termed JDA’s action as a harassment.

They alleged that without prior notice, JDA team assisted by the local police started removing their sheds thus causing heavy losses to them.

During yesterday’s drive, the bus stand shopkeepers protested strongly. Some cops and traders were injured during the drive as   shopkeepers objected to the drive                                                     strongly.

The bus stand shopkeepers observed bandh in protest against the JDA and demanded action against the officials responsible for giving orders to remove sheds.

CCI, traders meet Div Comm, lodge protest against JDA

The president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI), Rakesh Gupta, along with the other office bearers and bus stand traders today called upon the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, MK Bhandari to express concern over the working of Jammu Development Authority                    (JDA).

As per a press note, the delegation lodged protest against the JDA over its “inhuman and brutal action” yesterday at bus stand during drive against encroachment

Inspector General of Police (IGP), SD Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and VC JDA were also present on the occasion.

The CCI president demanded a high level inquiry into the incident of the brutal action of the JDA and stone pelting by the JDA staff resulting into injuries to the shopkeepers and even the SHO.
