The ongoing agitation in Nowshera and Sunderbani swelled to Kalakote as well on Saturday, with a complete bandh being observed in all the three Sub-Divisions. The protesters resisted opening of government offices, which resulted in the normal functioning of these offices getting hampered.
As per reports, after the bandh call by Kalakote Beopar Mandal, which was supported by Civil Society of the area, a complete bandh was observed, with all business establishments remaining closed and thin traffic plying on roads.
The traders and Civil Society members staged a protest outside Revenue Complex and raised anti-government slogans and announced that bandh will be observed till the demand for district status to Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote is met.
Meanwhile, the ongoing bandh in Nowshera entered its 9th consecutive day on Saturday, with all areas of Nowshera Sub-Divisional Headquarter observing complete bandh and protests being lodged against the state government.
The locals alleged that the state government has been ignoring their genuine demand of district status.
Bandh was also observed in Sunderbani, where all business establishments remained closed. The locals also held a meeting in Sunderbani town, wherein Beopar Mandal and local citizens vowed to continue their agitation unless their demand is met.
People from Bagnoti area, located on Jammu-Poonch highway also observed complete bandh in favour of the demand.
Meanwhile, due to ongoing agitation and resistance by people of Nowshera and Sunderbani in opening and smooth working of government offices, overall functioning of these offices has been badly affected, with government delivery system coming to a standstill.
Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote are set to observe a bandh on Sunday as well.
