Srinagar || About half a dozen stone pelters were on Saturday arrested during a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama district, official sources said.
They said on a tip off about the presence of some militants and stone pelters, security forces and Special Operation Group(SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation early Saturday morning at Kareemabad, in Pulwama district. All exit points were sealed and later searches were conducted in the village.
About half a dozen alleged stone pelters were later taken into custody, they said adding the cordon was later lifted.
However, the local residents protested and alleged that during the CASO security forces damaged some property and beat up villagers. They further alleged that security forces also beat up family members of a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant.
