Jammu || A special court has granted seven-day remand to the NIA, Jammu, of the five accused persons in the case of Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Naveed Jutt’s escape from custody when he was brought for treatment at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar on February 6.
The court in Srinagar had yesterday granted two-day transit remand to the NIA for the five accused persons namely Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, Tika Khan, Syed Tajamul Islam, Mod Shafi Wani and Jan Mohd Ganai, all residents of Pulwama in south Kashmir. These five accused conspired and helped Naveed, alias Abu Hanzalla, to escape from police custody when he was brought for treatment at the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar on February 6. In the incident, two policemen were killed. According to the police investigation, Naveed, along with six other detainees, were brought to SMHS Hospital from jail for a check-up on February 6. One of the accused, Hilal, had handed over a pistol to Naveed, as both opened fire on the constables, who later succumbed.
