Jammu, The government is committed to completing the cable car project on the Tawi by March this year.
In a written reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Sat Paul Sharma, the Tourism Department said the foundation stone of the cable car project in Jammu was laid on February 24, 2014, at an estimated cost of Rs 74.98 crore.
The department mentioned that Domodar Rope and Infra had been given the budget of Rs 20.59 crore, Rs 10.94 crore for Foreign Technology Partners, Rs 2 crore for Project Management Consultants, Rs 5 crore for taxes, custom and entry tax, Rs 13.53 crore for land compensation at LTP and UTP, Rs 3.74 crore forland compensation for the forest land, Rs 3.40 crore for shifting of power lines, Rs 15 crore for development of infrastructure and Rs 75 lakh forwater supply arrangements.
The reply reads that the 48-m section-II of the cable car from Bahu Fort to Mahamaya Park is scheduled to be completed by March-end. However, the 1,184-m section-II from Peerkho to Mahamaya park is expected to be completed by May as critical components and imported parts are to be procured from Turkey, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
The government has also mentioned that the work on the artificial lake is in progress and it will be completed by March this year.
