- Jammu, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is all set to hold a public darbar in Doda on Sunday.
People of the area have kept their fingers crossed as the successive governments, except during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as the Chief Minister, haven’t paid any attention to mitigate their problems.
“With the onset of winter, most of the areas will remain cut off from the district headquarters as there is no mechanism in place to clear landslides and snow from roads. Even the Batote-Kishtwar national highway gets affected and the Public Works Department has to seek help of local contractors to throw open the road,” said Riyaz Ahmed, a local Congress leader.
Power distribution during winter remains another major cause for concern for the people when high and low-tension wires and poles get damaged due to rain and snow.
Besides, less availability of ration, non-availability of drinking water due to frozen supply lines, poor health facilities and slow response of the administration in addressing the problems of people are some other problems being faced by people of the area.
PDP leaders are hopeful that this visit of the CM will help in bridging the gap and issues of people will be addressed.
