Kishtwar police recovers Charas consignment, 02 arrested – Jammu Voice


Kishtwar: The Kishtwar Police has recovered another drug consignment in Sangamvatti area under the jurisdiction of Chatroo Police Station. Police has arrested two drug peddlers locals of the area in this regard.

As its continous drive against the drugs in the district, Kishtwar police developed specific information of the racketeering of drug by some locals in Tagood Sangamvatti area and selling the same to youth in Kishtwar and Chatroo townships.

The police today on a specific information about a couple of persons moving in Sangamvatti area on foot to avoid police action during checking of vehicles, laid a naka at Sangamvatti bridge under the jurisdiction of Police Post Mughal Maidan under the supervision of Incharge PP SI Arun Bhagat.

During the checking of vehicles and pedestrains at naka point police intercepted two persons walking on foot. During the search of these persons police recovered 01 Kg and 100 grams Charas from their possession. They have been identified as (1)Liyaqat Ali S/O Ghulam Hussan R/O Sigdi Pahalgam, Chhatroo and (2)Tanvir Ahmed S/O Ghulam Hassan R/O Sigdi, Chatroo. Poice has arrested both of them. The arrests have been made by SI Arun Bhagat IC PP Mughal Maidan under the supervision of SHO police station Chatroo Inspector Mohd Bashir. The police has registered case FIR No. 86/2017 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act in this regard.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary when contacted said, the modus operandi of the drug peddlers in the district is now well known to the police. The police shall not allow the drug racketeers to spread their tentecles any more in this district, said the SSP. He said the public should come forward and help the police to uproot this menace completely from the district.
