Kargil students protest ‘delay’ in exam results – Jammu Voice News

Kargil, Hundreds of students of Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil, on monday staged a demonstration against the ‘delay’ in semester examinations to be conducted by the University of Kashmir.

The students started the protest from the college campus and after passing through the bus stand and main market, they ended the protest at Lal Chowk, Kargil.

The students raised slogans against the university authorities and local administration. Representatives of Islamia School, Kargil, and the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) also extended their support and took part in the protest.

Maulana Abbas Karrari, vice-chairman, IKMT, said local leaders should take up the issue with the authorities concerned.

Shiekh Asgar Zakeri, representative, Islamia School, said they would always stand with the students and would struggle for their rights.

The students accused the university administration of spoiling their future by not declaring their examination results. They alleged that they had taken up the matter with the Kargil Council and the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil but in vain.

They said the university should stop playing with the future of students from Ladakh and sought immediate intervention of the vice chancellor in the matter.
